Ekokobe Fonkem, DO

Ekokobe Fonkem, DO, is the Chief of Neuro-Oncology at the Barrow Neurological Institute and Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and Creighton University College of Medicine. His research focus in Neuro-Oncology involves translational, clinical, and quality of life research on newly diagnosed and recurrent brain tumors.

His work includes many basic, translational, and clinical research studies. Recently, he co-authored an article showing that SMARCB1 gene mutation predisposes to earlier development of glioblastoma.

Dr. Fonkem has published 40 research articles in well-respected publications, such as the Journal of Clinical Oncology, the Journal of American Chemical Society, and Neuro-Oncology, as well as half a dozen book chapters in his field. Additionally, Dr. Fonkem has shared his research in numerous presentations to national and international organizations, including the Society for Neuro-Oncology, the Society of Neuro-Oncology China, the Society of Neuro-Oncology Sub Saharan Africa, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Academy of Neurology.
